Technology has advanced in every area of our lives. As advancements have been made in the manufacture of swimming pools they have become more affordable and more people are able to put a swimming pool in their back yard. But, technology has also advanced in the development of the swimming pool light and people now can create a perfect pool experience when they select the right light.
Most in-ground pools still come with the standard incandescent lights. These are inexpensive lights and produce the white light at each end of the pool. However, there are many other choices available that provide a dramatic effect in, and around, a pool area.
A halogen light acts the same under water as it does on a lamp. They are really bright, white lights. These can be great lights if one needs to find coins or other small items in the bottom of a pool. They last longer than an incandescent light and must be handled carefully when they are removed from the light casing.
The new LED lighting provides a person with the ability to create dramatic effect in their pool. These lights change colors either by manual or automatic control. If a person is changing switching a standard light for an LED light they will need to have a professional take a look at their casing and possibly change the casing to accommodate the larger LED light.
The latest technological advance to be provided to the swimming pool light industry is the fiber optic light. These are expensive but provide a beautiful light that shines both in the pool and around the edge of the pool area. The lights are placed in the coping (that’s the lip) of the pool and change colors by a remote device that is built into the casing. The lights can be set to twinkle or to provide a soft glow and can remain one color or be set to change colors. They are a beautiful addition to a pool.
If a person has an older pool that does not have light casings in it there are floating lights. These lights float on the water atop a pool and cast a glow in the water below. The lights are battery operated and very durable. One is not limited on the number of floating lights they can put in their pool. These lights are also a popular addition to an above ground pool.
Both incandescent and halogen lights are also made with casings and mounts for above ground pools. If a person uses their above ground pool at night during the summer these lights do not disrupt pool activity but keep the area well lit.
When one is considering swimming pool light it is important to discuss their needs with a professional. There are some pools that were made before safety features were required on lights in pools. A professional will be able to check these lights and advise a person on what steps should be taken to repair or replace the electrical components in the pool.
